Steps for Taking the 360 Degree Challenge

About the Challenge:

The 360 Degree Challenge for Coaches is a process of collecting data from multiple sources (coaches, clients, colleagues and family members) on their perspective about the coach’s overall business and leadership performance. Its use is based on the premise that:

  • Self-perceptions are often different from the perceptions of others;

  • Knowing these differences in perception leads a coach to a more accurate understanding of their business and leadership skills;

  • An accurate understanding of one's leadership and business skills is essential to the creation of an effective developmental plan and for growth as both a coach and a business owner.

The 360 Degree Challenge for Coaches will provide you with (confidential and anonymous) feedback for development purposes only. The feedback should be used to strengthen pertinent core competencies, skills and behaviors, and thereby improving your overall performance as a coach.

We have identified 16 core competencies for coaches with 3-4 key behaviors for each core competency. We strongly feel that these are the competencies needed by professionals in the coaching industry in order for coaches to remain competitive and be successful in their future endeavors. The Core Competencies form the basis of the survey questions used in The 360 Degree Challenge for Coaches.

We will be using a third party organization – SurveysByDesign.com- to assist us in facilitating this process. The process is e-mail and web based followed up with executive coaching by telephone. As this process gathers feedback from multiple sources, many of us at The 360 Degree Challenge and Five Star Leader Coaching and Training will be participating in this process to make this a valuable experience for you, your clients and your network.

Our desire in implementing the 360 degree feedback process is to provide coaches with personal and professional development opportunities through candid, open feedback delivered via a quality, structured process.

Financial Investment:

The financial investment for The 360 Degree Challenge for Coaches is $475.00, which includes a full survey and a 90 minute coaching debrief with one of our executive coaches. Through February 28, 2007, we will be offering an introductory price of $375.00, which also includes a full survey and a 90 minute coaching debrief with one of our executive coaches. The coaching debrief will include a brief 6-month developmental plan which will focus on improving one to two key behaviors which once enhanced will improve your business results.

If you are ready to take the challenge, please read the following before signing up.

  1. Enter here to sign up for The 360 Degree Challenge for Coaches at the special introductory price of $375.00 (Regular Price: $475.00) . (Note: Because of the nature of the survey process, we cannot issue refunds. Once you sign up for the assessment, our survey system will be put into motion. If you sign up, we are asking for your full commitment to completion of the process. If you have any doubts or questions, please contact our Executive Director of Coaching, Carol Dickson-Carr at carol@360degreechallenge.com, and she will schedule a time to speak with you by telephone).

  2. As soon as you sign up, your name and e-mail address will be sent to our company.

  3. Within 24 hours during the week and within 72 hours on the week-end, you will be receiving an e-mail with instructions to access your private online survey page.

  4. Once you access your online survey page, please log in using your user name and password. You will see the activities you need to complete (all is clearly laid-out) and the deadline dates associated with each activity. From here, you will be asked to compelte a self-assessment survey and select your raters.

  5. You will be asked to choose raters from 3 main categories: Mentors/Coaches, Clients and Colleagues. We will be asking you to choose at least 2 Mentors/Coaches, 3 Clients and 3 Colleagues so that we collect a full panoramic view of your skills. This number is a minimum number, and you can invite as many raters as you want to participate in your survey. We would like to encourage you to include at least 1 family member as one of your Colleagues, as family members often see things that your professional network does not see.

  6. Once you have selected your raters, you will e-mail them to notify them that the survey is open for them to begin the feedback process. The survey will not tell you who said what, so please let your raters know that their identities will remain strictly confidential once the feedback is compiled.

  7. Your raters will have 2 weeks to complete their feedback. The time required to take the assessment is 15-20 minutes.

  8. At any time during the process, you may enter your online survey area to send reminders to your raters.

  9. At the end of the two-week review period, a detailed report of your feedback will be compiled.

  10. A coaching session will be scheduled at this time to debrief your assessment and to begin designing a six month developmental plan.
